Notice of Data Security Incident

Girard Financial Group, L.L.C., doing business as G9 Financial recently learned about a data security incident that may have impacted a limited amount of personal information for some of its clients. We respect the privacy and security of all information within our control, and sincerely apologize for any concern this may cause our clients.

What Happened?

In April 2022, we learned of suspicious activity associated with one of our corporate email accounts. We immediately started an internal investigation to determine what occurred and whether any data was impacted. The investigation identified unauthorized access to one account but was unable to determine whether any data was compromised. We then hired a vendor to conduct an in-depth review of the email account to determine whether any personal information was contained in the account. This review was completed on September 30, 2022 and determined that information present in the account may include client names, addresses, Social Security numbers, financial information, and limited medical information.

We have taken steps to enhance the security of our email environment, including changing the email password and implementing multi-factor authentication for remote access. Letters were also sent to impacted individuals for whom we had contact information, containing more information about the incident, and information on enrolling in credit monitoring and identity protection services from Cyberscout at no cost.

Impacted individuals should remain vigilant for incidents of identity theft or fraud by reviewing bank account and other financial statements, as well as credit reports, for suspicious activity. Incidents of suspected identity theft should be reported to law enforcement or the attorney general. We also encourage individuals to contact Cyberscout with any questions and to take full advantage of the Cyberscout service offering.
